I was born in Peru, and named after Egyptian actor Omar Sharif, because Mum was a big fan. I was also born in the same date as him, so she couldn’t have timed it better.
Since then, I’ve had a 18-yr long career and moved across the globe twice to work in different cultures, developing regional and global campaigns. In 2011, I joined Leo Burnett’s team at their global headquarter in Chicago, where I was selected as one of the ‘30 Under 30’ professionals in Marketing and Advertising by Forbes. And where my work made the agency the most shortlisted US agency at Cannes Outdoor Lions 2013 and the Agency of the Year US at The Eye of Iberoamerica.
In 2014, I moved to Asia to become part of BBH Singapore (Ad Age International Agency of the Year in 2018), where I was a Creative Director. There I had the chance to work for international brands such as Nike and Ikea, but also developed a first-of-its-kind entertainment platform (Running Stories), and helped local brands hit the headlines around the world, from Hypebeast to BBC, and from gaming to tech publications.
In 2022, as the ECD at Edelman's creative department, supported by a talented team, I not only secured new business but also achieved the agency's first recognition at Spikes Asia, The One Show, and secured our first Gran Prix at Madstars.
Currently, as the Regional ECD at We Are Social, I lead global campaigns for clients like Samsung, while collaborating closely with the innovation team to shape the future of marketing.
I’ve also created work from America to APAC for other iconic brands - that are usually good to list in bios - like Uber, Facebook, P&G, Kellogg’s, and McDonald’s to name a few. Work that has received over 80 shiny metals for its creativity and effectiveness in major award shows, including Cannes Lions, One Show, Clios, WEBBYs, New York Festival, London International Festival, among others. And I’ve also had the privilege to be selected to judge international festivals such as the D&AD and New York Festival.
This is as good a time as any to let you know I speak English, Spanish and a respectable French, and that I spend my time time watching obscures films, boxing, reading graphic novels, or reading Nat Geo Magazines to my cats, Santo and Patrón.
